02 Jul VMR Research Team Develops World’s Most Comprehensive and Effective Self-Administered Questionnaire for Floaters
Vision Degrading Myodesopsia (VDM) from vitreous floaters [https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1350946220300197?via%3Dihub] impacts quality-of-life (Q-o-L) in many people. To date, it has been difficult to accurately measure this impact.
VMR researchers have developed and validated a 23-item questionnaire published by the American Medical Association [https:doi.//10.1001/jamaophthalmol.2025.3369 ]. This was found to be 10-fold more sensitive to the impact of floaters on Q-o-L than the N.E.I. Visual Function Questionnaire (VFQ-25), as published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology [https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ajo.2026.02.027].
Future VDM R & D will incorporate this valuable metric of patient status in new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to address the plight of patients suffering from VDM due to vitreous floaters.
